He was Surgeon Superintendent on the immigrant ship Thames to New South Wales in 1826.

Charles Linton died on 3 September 1853 -On the 3d, Charles Linton, Esq., of the Royal Navy, one of the medical officers who attended the battle of Trafalgar in Codrington's ship the Orion; in his 79th year. [4]
He was buried on 8th September at Highgate Cemetery St. James, St. Pancras, Middlesex. [5]
His estate was left to his nephew William Linton, artist of Lodge Place, Regent's Park with bequests to his other nieces and nephews - Margaret and Mary Linton and James and Robert Linton. [6]
