Richard Lewis was appointed naval surgeon on 29th December 1807. He was appointed Surgeon to the Hindostan 1807 - 08 [1]

Surgeon Superintendent Emigrant Ship

Richard Lewis was employed as Surgeon-superintendent on Sir Joseph Banks to Australia in 1828. Sir Joseph Banks brought 129 free women and children, the families of convicts. He kept a Journal from 10th May until 30th October 1828.

He returned to England on the Ellen with Dr. Rankin in January 1829.

Morley to New South Wales in 1829

America to Van Diemen's Land in 1831

William Jardine to New South Wales in 1838

Hope to Van Diemen's Land in 1842

Death

Richard Lewis died in 1854.[2]
