Henry Ryan was entered in the Navy List of Medical Officers in 1814.
He was employed as Surgeon-Superintendent three convict ship voyages to Australia:

Tyne to NSW in 1819. After the voyage of the Tyne he returned to England on the
Shipley in April 1819. Seven other naval surgeons returned on the same vessel -

Morgan Price,
John Johnston and
