Convict Ship Surgeon-Superintendent




There were two men by the name of John Baird in the Navy List 1843. One was an Assistant Surgeon from 1812, the other a Surgeon, Date of Seniority Royal Navy 13 May 1835.

John Baird was employed as assistant-surgeon on the Britannia on 13 September 1832. He was employed as assistant-surgeon on the Atholl in 1833 -34

John Baird (b) was appointed surgeon to the Wanderer 7 August 1835.



Surgeon-Superintendent

John Baird was employed as Surgeon Superintendent on two convict ship voyages to Australia:

Middlesex - departed Dublin 6 July 1839 and arrived in Port Jackson on 25 January 1840.

Lord Goderich to Hobart - departed Sheerness in July 1841 and arrived 18 November 1841.

John Baird is in the Navy List of 1841

He was appointed surgeon to the Eurydice in 1843.
