Thomas Somerville was appointed Assistant-Surgeon to the Ringdove on 18 May 1837. [2]He was appointed Assistant-Surgeon to the Conway at Portsmouth 23 May 1843[3]
He was appointed Surgeon to the Cleopatra at the Cape of Good Hope 14 June 1845[4]
Surgeon Superintendent
Thomas Somerville was employed as Surgeon Superintendent on the convict ship St. Vincent to Van Diemen's Land in 1853.Staff Surgeon
Thomas Somerville is listed in the Medical Register 1861Residence Surgeon Royal Navy H.M.S. Cornwallis[5]
Deputy Inspector-General
On 15 October 1868 he held the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Hospitals and Fleets on the Retired List. [6]Death
