Thomas Somerville was appointed Assistant-Surgeon to the Ringdove on 18 May 1837. [2]
He was appointed Assistant-Surgeon to the Conway at Portsmouth 23 May 1843[3]
He was appointed Surgeon to the Cleopatra at the Cape of Good Hope 14 June 1845[4]

Thomas Somerville was employed as Surgeon Superintendent on the convict ship St. Vincent to Van Diemen's Land in 1853.
